On the 15th July 2009, Trelewis Tenants and Residents group organised a community ‘Nights Out’ event in partnership with the Arts Council of Wales. The show ‘A Komedy of Errors’ was performed at Trelewis Community Centre by ‘Circus Berzercus’ who are a small touring circus-theatre company, mixing story telling with traditional clowning, magic tricks and juggling. The show attracted 90 community members from toddlers to grand parents. The show included audience participation, music and comedy and was enjoyed by all.
Trelewis Tenants and Residents group are planning another similar event for February half term 2010. Watch this space for more information or call Hannah at the Communities First Office in Trelewis on 01443 413 657

Circus Berzercus is a comedy circus duo - Juggler Ben Cornish and Clown Steve Eldridge - who perform their comedy shows'A Komedy of Errors' and its sequel'Funny Business'around the country. They have recently received Arts Council of England funding to develop their performance work and their circus skills workshops. They offer one off workshops in schools or in community venues or a week of workshops for school arts weeks. These may end the week with a performance with the children/young people showing off the skills they have learned. ‘A Circus Berzercus show is not a normal show where the performers are on the stage and you are in the audience. Instead, entering the hall is like arriving on planet Circus Berzercus where every atom in the room has been transformed and you willingly and happily become one of their citizens’ Rural Touring Scheme Project Manager, Cornwall. |

Two brilliant performers - Gerald (juggler Ben Cornish) and Wallace (clown Steve Eldridge) combine to bring you a show packed with comedy and circus skills.
Their family show 'Komedy of Errors' has been a hit around the country, appealing to adults and children alike.
Audiences enjoy the dazzling juggling, mad monocycling, hint of danger - and plenty of opportunities for them to get in on the act!
What is Nightout?
|
| Night Out is a public service, organised by the Community Touring Unit of the Arts Council of Wales in partnership with NEARLY all of Wales’ local authorities.
Night out has been operating throughout Wales for the past 26 years. Night Out exists to bring exciting professional performances to community venues, and since its inception has helped thousands of performances in 100’s of venues. By helping local community groups to host up to six * live professional performances in a year without incurring the normal financial risks. (* funds allowing)
Imagine 637 performances in 415 venues attended by 35000 people having a good night, sometimes an afternoon, out, in 2006 alone. Over 5500 performances since the schemes inception.
IF YOU ARE A COMMUNITY ORGANISATION WITH ACCESS TO A SUITABLE HALL (e.g. Village Hall Committee / Parish Council / Youth club / School PTA etc), you are ideally suited to use the scheme. You don’t need to have a stage or special lighting but the hall must be wheelchair accessible and friendly to people with disabilities. There are performances for every venue no matter how small or unequipped.
Night Out publishes information about events and performances, which we think may have some appeal to community organisers. This can be a printed list sent to you on request, sign up to join our promoters bi- annual mail out, you can access information on shows available via our WEBSITE www.nightout.org.uk/promoters.asp or have a look at our recommended section for exciting new touring products.

| Arson RAP Project |
|
On the 21st and 22nd of July 2009, 10 young people from Bedlinog ward undertook a two day course at Trelewis Community Centre delivered by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service on the dangers of arson, car crime and other anti-social behaviours. The group took part in workshops, watched footage of real-life and reconstructed crime scenes and learnt about the effect that these actions have on individuals and communities. The group worked really well together and recorded a piece of music as a creative project to highlight the issues raised on the course, and the dangers associated with arson, car crime and drug / alcohol abuse. Thanks very much to all those who took part including Abbie Jago, Ellie Jago, Hannah McCarthy, Nicole Spriggs, Leon Bounds and Connor Bounds. Copies of the CD are available from Hannah Mills in the Trelewis Community Centre, please contact 01443 413657.
