The Food Co-operative

Treharris Food Co-op was initiated in 2004 and is run by dedicated local volunteers every Friday morning at Treharris Boys and Girls Club between 10 – 12 o’clock. The Co-op serves approximately 50 members of the local community with good quality, affordable and locally sourced fresh fruit, vegetables and salad for £2.50 per bag. Our suppliers use seasonal produce which mean the contents of the bags vary week to week. Alternative produce is also available including free range eggs and stew packs.

The bagging and collecting of customers orders takes only 2-3 hours one morning a week and we are seeking new members to join the team, especially for deliveries.  Please contact Ann Tweedy on 01443 411891 if you would like to become a volunteer.

Bethania Chapel

Communities First worked in partnership with Tidy Towns, Keep Wales Tidy, Greenfingers Gardening Club and Bethania Chapel to transform a redundant piece of land adjacent to Bethania Chapel into a community garden. Funding for the project was awarded via Keep Wales Tidy and Treharris Area Community Trust (TACT) and Tidy Towns provided free labour. Greenfingers Gardening Club have agreed to maintain the garden in the future.
