Trelewis is a small village of outstanding natural beauty situated in the Taff Bargoed Valley. Its population is 2,029 with 792 households; it has just 2 grocery shops, 2 pubs and 1 post office. Even though this quaint village is in a rural area it is only 10 minutes drive to the A470 and only 30 minutes drive from Cardiff. Trelewis grew and developed over the years of the late nineteenth century as a small community of mining families, the nearby collieries were Trelewis Drift, Deep Navigation at Treharris and Taff Merthyr at Bedlinog. Parc Taf Bargoed a beautiful 54 hectare community park is situated on the site of the former collieries and within its grounds sits the Welsh International Climbing Centre
